The old Joanna

My first non-photography related blog post! For those of you who know me, you'll know that I've been very interested in music for quite some time, and that I have played the piano (AKA a Joanna) from a very young age. For those of you who don't know me, now you know a little more about me!
Anyway, I started dabbling with musical instruments from a very young age, I was around 4 years old when I got my first keyboard. Obviously it wasn't a 'proper' keyboard but this sparked my interest in learning to play, and as soon as I was old enough I began lessons.

I had a few teachers throughout the years, my first teacher was a lady called Sally-Ann Veasey she taught me the basics, and confirmed to myself and my parents that I wanted to progress. My last teacher was a lady called Christine Sumner, a very talented pianist and singer. I learnt a lot with Christine, and achieved my grade 5 certificate. I was also entered in to, and won, lots of competitions throughout the Midlands. However, I wasn't playing the piano for certificates or awards, I just wanted to enjoy it...

This conflict of interest led to me losing interest in the instrument, and unfortunately around 8 years ago, I sold my piano and have never played since. However, for the last couple of years I've been itching to get my hands on another, even if it's just to have the odd mess around on it. I would love to get to the same standard I was 8 years ago, or even surpass that level. However, pianos aren't cheap and I haven't been able to afford one... Until now!

Ta da! There it is, my newly acquired piano. And it's not just any piano, it's a baby grand!! I never expected to own one of these at all! It's currently in transit to my house as we speak (it's pictured in it's old home above), I'm just hoping it arrives in one piece as it is CRAZILY heavy! It is an iron framed piano, so you can imagine how much it weighs...

Anyway, I'll post about my progress on the piano as I develop. I've already dug out loads of my old music so I'm hoping that I can pick it up relatively quickly!
