A trip to the park

As mentioned in a previous blog, this weeks 'Weekly Photo Challenge' is entitled 'Water'. As mentioned I had a few landscape ideas that I'd wanted to try out, however, I had run out of time and had to think of something new. It was then that my partner mentioned a huge fountain at her local park, so off we went...

This was the same park that we had visited on our first date, so it was a nice 'trip down memory lane' for us anyway. I ended up taking loads of photos, and also attempted taking some bracketed photos to give me an opportunity to try HDR. Unfortunately this didn't work out but overall I was happy with a few of the pictures I'd snapped and decided we should head home.

So here are a few of our favourites from the trip...

The first thing I did was try and take a couple of photos of the fountain itself; as the sky was particularly dull so they didn't turn out all that great. I like this one because of the unusual shapes that the water created.

Whilst taking these photos, all the geese seemed to get rather excited thinking we were there to feed them.

Some of them even seemed to enjoy taking a shower.

It was whilst taking these photos that we realised we were not alone...

Grey Squirrel

There were dozens of these little guys, and they were surprisingly tame. They kept coming up to us, sitting at our feet, and staring at us.
We walked a little further, but realised it was beginning to get dark. Whilst on the bridge over the weir I took my final photo.

Although it was a short, and somewhat damp walk, it was really nice to re-visit the place where we had first met. We will definitely be going back again soon, perhaps armed with some sunflower seeds to entice the squirrels even closer.  Hopefully I've bagged myself a shot that I can submit for the photo challenge.
